In July 2018, after 142 years on New Bond Street, The Fine Art Society said farewell to its historic premises at 148 New Bond Street. To mark the occasion the gallery is to offer a selection of works which both encapsulate and celebrate our history in Mayfair.
The sale this February will include pieces by some of the most prominent artists, printmakers, architect-designers and craftsmen of the last 150 years; from James McNeil Whistler, to Sir Peter Blake, work from luminary artists will help tell the story of this unique London institution.
From pioneering architecture by Edward W. Godwin to relationships with artists such as James Abbott McNeil Whistler, Gluck and the ‘godfather’ of British Pop Art, Sir Peter Blake, discover the fascinating story of the gallery in over 300 works of art. From the cutting edge, to the more than a little unconventional, The Fine Art Society has championed living artists for more than 142 years, influencing not only the art world but broader culture. Following our relocation to Chelsea, we have joined forces with our former Bond Street neighbour to offer a celebratory auction. The Fine Art Society: 142 Years on New Bond Street will give collectors the chance to buy their own piece of this venerable London institution.
