Gerald Leslie Brockhurst: Paintings, Prints and Drawings

6 November - 30 December 2011
Overview

Gerald Leslie Brockhurst: Paintings, Prints and Drawings was held to mark  twenty-five years since the first comprehensive exhibition of the work of Gerald Brockhurst, A Dream of Fair Women,  which toured  Sheffield, Birmingham and the National Portrait Gallery in London. As a painter, draughtsman and etcher, Brockhurst achieved an extraordinary finish. He was prodigiously skilled in representing texture, in particular skin, flesh, hair, lace, silk and embroidery. The limitations of paint or copper plate and printer’s ink were simply challenges to be overcome. His models are alluring, and exude an air of flawless serenity.
