Chris Levine | Compassion

6 June - 7 July 2016

"There was a kind of magic involved in how this commission came about. It's as if there was a higher power directing and I was just carrying out a duty. He is an extraordinary human being and it was a huge honour to do the work and support the cause.” - Chris Levine

To celebrate the eightieth birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, British artist Chris Levine has released a portrait of His Holiness taken on his recent visit to the United Kingdom.

Photographed using 3D light technology, the portrait will be sold in 6 unique limited editions. All proceeds from sales and royalties of the portrait will be distributed to charities involved in the relief effort in the Himalayas following the 2015 Nepal earthquakes.

As part of our 140th year contemporary program, Compassion will be on view throughout June and July at the gallery.
