Frances Walker CBE RSA RSW b. 1930

Overview

Frances Walker studied at Edinburgh College of Art, following which she took up a post as visiting teacher of art for the Hebrides, the remote landscape influencing her artistic practice. Walker was then appointed lecturer in drawing and painting at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, where she became a founding member of Ian Fleming’s Peacock Print Studio.

While a lot of her work focuses on Scottish landscapes and terrains, she travels frequently to remote locations including the Antarctic and South Georgia for inspiration, after receiving the James McBey Travel Award from Aberdeen Art Gallery in 2007.
