Through the Eyes of Anthony Whishaw RA
Whishaw studied at Chelsea School of Art from 1948 to 1952 and the Royal College of Art from 1952 to 1955. His roll call of exhibitions include the Barbican Art Gallery, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Hayward Gallery, Kettles Yard, the Mappin Art Gallery, John Moores Liverpool Exhibition and Libreria Abril, Madrid. In 1988 his work was part of a major exhibition The Romantic Tradition in Contemporary British Painting which toured France and Spain.
His work is included in prestigious private and public collections worldwide such as the Tate Gallery, Arts Council of Great Britain, Deutsche Bank, the European Parliament, Strasbourg, the National Gallery of Victoria, Australia, and the Royal Bank of Scotland, amongst several others. Whishaw was elected a Member of the London Group in 1979, a Royal Academician in 1989, where he has exhibited in the Summer Exhibition every year since 1972, and a Royal West of England Academician in 1992.
